Frst proper outdoor ride of the season

Although I have been riding all winter, tonight was the first ride with tights and proper shoes. I did an hour on my commuter focusing purely on spinning. It felt very good to be back on the bike and hopefully in a few days I will be able to bring out my road bike to the park. No salt.

Update on my fixed gear bike:
I have got my cranks sorted and will start with a 42.
My frame will be going in to get resprayed shortly.
I am contiplating on some deep-v rims (Mavics)
the rest of the parts are ready to go on once I get the frame back from the painters.

Tacx ride - hilly

Average speed 29
Max Speed 66km
Duration: 40+10 min cool down
cadence 97
watt 212 avg

Felt great. What can I say. I feel like I am almost completely free of my sickness. I still have a sore throat and a cough, but phyically I feel 100%. However, I have lost a lot of training and am very disappointed. I don't have much desire to get going again. Mentally, I think I am pretty messed up. I lost two months of xcountry and DH skiing. This sets my goals way back. I am hoping to get out on the road tonight for a proper ride, but if not, I will get back on the trainer and do a longer ride.

I haven't gain much, if any weight which for me, is incredibly good.

Mad River Glen, Vermont US of eh

We left for Mad River Glen Friday night and made it there in just over 3 hours. Got into our Hotel and enjoyed the Hotel's surplus of crap TV.

We woke to a great serve yourself breaky which was actually fairly healthy. They even had energybars for free.

MRG is famous for two things - Their single seater chairlift and their powder skiing. We got to experience only the chair. The skiing was quite tough. They were hurting for snow and apparently they don't make much snow through the year and they rarely groom the hill. This means that the hill was littlered with bumps. I love bumps but I found them to be slightly daunting. The snow was heavy as it was +5 degrees and just coming off my sickness I wasnt feeling aggressive or strong. Eventually I found my flow and enjoyed the bumps for the last couple of hours of the day.

On our last run, Candace decided to take a slightly different path through the bump-filled trees and got cuaght up in some thin trees throwing her down and hurting her knee. We went to emergency when we got home but the wait was too long and we decided to leave. She will be going to see her doctor on Monday to find out the damage. I suspect a sprain and hopefully thats all. Walking though is a huge chore for her right now. Concerned? Yes. I have torn ligaments in both knees and I know how delicate they can be no matter how tough you are.

Would I return? Sure, but only if I was there during a snow storm. I would go to other hills instead. Stowe and Sugarbush are all just around the bend from MRG.

back on my feet.

I think I may be about 90% healthy. At least thats how I feel. I was meant to go DH skiing tonight but too many things got in my way. I will spin this week as well as DH ski and the weekend looks like it will be taken up with a trip to Vermont for some proper ski time.
